School Supplies –

  • Receive backpack and school supplies to start the school year ready to succeed.

Health Services – Day of Event:

  • VNA mobile health clinic on site from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and Aunt Martha’s with round trip shuttle service to and from health center from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., for immunizations and school and sports physicals. You must bring current immunization records to VNA or Aunt Martha’s.

Required Back-To-School Health Needs:

  • Children entering preschool, kindergarten, sixth and ninth grades must have immunizations and a physical before school starts in the fall.
  • All students entering fifth grade must have proof of the Hepatitis B vaccine series upon school entry.
  • Fall of 2014: All students entering, advancing, or transferring into 6th-12th grades will be required to show proof of receipt of one dose of Tdap vaccine (combined tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis) regardless of the interval since the last DTaP, DT
    or Td dose.
  • Illinois State Law requires dental exams for all students in K, 2nd, & 6th grades. Cleaning and exams available on location by Aurora Children’s Dental Service and Miles of Smiles.

Community Resources –

  • Governmental agencies and social service organizations will be available to share information on human service resources in our community.
  • Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry will provide a mobile food pantry.
  • East Aurora School District 131 will be available with information about their registration process for the following week.
  • West Aurora School District 129 will be on-site for student enrollment for the 2014-2015 school year. Please check with the school district for required documents to bring.

We all know how important it is for every child to be ready to learn on the first day of school. Many children come to school unprepared and without adequate school supplies. Teachers often are left to provide supplies for students. For just $25 you can provide a child in the Aurora area a school supply kit.
