FREE! CITY OF AURORA DRAMA AND DRUMS SUMMER CAMP FOR ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN AURORA!
Aurora students in 4th – 12th grade currently attending public or parochial schools in D129, D131, D204, or D308 can step into this summer’s camp called “Drama and Drums” with the production of DreamWorks’ SHREK the Musical, Jr. Directed by Arlene Hawks, Executive Director at SciTech Hands On Museum, life-long educator and former Drama Director at East Aurora High School. This camp will run Monday-Thursday starting on Wednesday, June 22 – July 21, 2016, in the auditorium at East Aurora High School from 12:30pm – 3:30pm, with the final performances held in the Hawks Auditorium. This FREE camp will provide elementary, middle and high school students with real life musical theatre experience with a focus on drama, improvisation, vocal skills, dance, and acting. Students will also have the opportunity to study and perform with various different percussion instruments from steel drums to African drums coached by professional musicians from Chicago Sinfonietta; the percussion ensemble will add to the musical backdrop of SHREK the Musical, Jr. This camp is provided in partnership with the City of Aurora, Communities In Schools of Aurora, Chicago Sinfonietta, and East Aurora High School.
