2nd 2 None 5K Run/Walk

2nd 2 None Run & Walk 5kAurora’s signature 2 nd 2 None 5K Run/Walk is back with an exciting new location! Hosted by Communities In Schools of Aurora (CIS) and Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry, this year’s race will be held at Chicago Premium Outlets on Sunday July 17. The race steps off at 8 am with a route that passes through the mall complex, ensuring a truly unique experience for runners and walkers. The event will be chip-timed this year and the course has been certified to appeal to competitive runners.

All race participants will receive performance tech race shirts and a swag bag filled with goodies and deals from Chicago Premium Outlet stores and local businesses. This is a family friendly event and will feature a Kids Dash for children under 9. Online race registration is available at www.signmeup.com/114815.

The 2nd 2 None 5K Run/Walk supports the Food for Thought Program, a collaborative project between CIS and Aurora Food Pantry, which distributes food to the families of children at risk of hunger over the summer. Thousands of children in Aurora schools are eligible for free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch during the school year. Once school has ended, many of their families will find it difficult to purchase enough food to adequately feed their children during the summer.

Last year’s event was a great success and raised funds to provide food for 805 families with children. Aurora Food Pantry and CIS hope to build on last year’s success and expand the program to provide food for more children. Good and adequate nutrition all year long is essential to every child’s ability to develop properly, stay healthy, and perform well in school.

Chicago Premium Outlets is a Simon Center located 38 miles west of downtown Chicago off Interstate 88 at the Farnsworth Ave. North exit in Aurora, IL. For more than 10 years, the center has been a top destination for everyday savings of 25 to 65 percent on fashion and popular brands including Adidas, Coach, Gap Factory Store, Levi’s Outlet Store, Polo Ralph Lauren Factory Store, Tommy Hilfiger, Under Armour and Vera Bradley.

Volunteers are needed for race day and corporate sponsorships are available, with a variety of levels and benefits, including Facebook postings and recognition on Race shirts.
